Minutes: Present:  Carol Vallencourt, District 1; Carol Studdard, District 2; Charles Van Zant, Jr., District 3; Frank Farrell, District 4; and Lisa Graham, District 5.  Superintendent Ben Wortham was also present.

2. Discuss Governors Park DRI, Redistricting, and Facility Initiatives and Issues

Minutes: 

Mike Elliott, Assistant Superintendent for Support Services, brought Board Members up to date on an issue with a paint contractor, John Colvin.  Mr. Colvin addressed the School Board on November 18, 2008 regarding the work of another paint contractor.  Mr. Elliott and his staff have investigated and not been able to find fault with the painting project.  A letter will be sent to Mr. Colvin to convey their findings in writing.  

Due to our current economic situation and slow down of growth in the district, refocusing the Educational Facilities Plan towards existing schools to the fullest degree possible was discussed.  The discussion also included a look at restructuring the schools in the Keystone Heights area and whether it would be beneficial or detrimental to the operational aspect of the reorganized schools.

Potential redistricting initiatives at various schools due to concurrency were discussed.

3. 2009 Legislative Priorites

Minutes: Minor changes to the 2009 Legislative priorities were discussed to be available by January meeting.

4. Master Board Program

Minutes: By consensus, the Board agreed to participate in the 2009-10 Master Board Program offered through the Florida School Boards Association.  Preferred dates, in priority order, for Master Board were March 5-6, May 7-8 and September 24 & 25.  The $3000 participation fee must accompany the "Intent to Participate" form.
